High surf advisory in effect

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The National Weather Service in Honolulu has canceled a high surf warning, but a high surf advisory remains in effect for north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai and for north facing shores of Maui until 6:00 AM Friday.

Surf along north facing shores will lower to 12 to 18 feet Thursday night and to 6 to 10 feet with an occasional higher set Friday.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area producing rip currents and localized beach erosion. Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
