Grounded fishing boat freed

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The 54-foot fishing vessel Logan, which had run aground off Kewalo Basin early Wednesday, was floated successfully around 2:00 AM Thursday. The high tide along with the removal of approximately 600 gallons of fuel helped to lift the vessel.

The ship was able to sail back to Kewalo basin under its own power. Minor damage was reported to the ship.

According to officials at the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) the Logan had unloaded its catch at Pier 38 and was returning to Kewalo when a problem developed with the rudder and the crew was unable to steer the ship.
