Honolulu moves closer to resolution on bed and breakfast rentals

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Bed and breakfasts are a step closer to becoming legal on Oahu. Tuesday, the city council advanced a plan that would let people house tourists on their property.

There are conditions, however. The home owner has to live on the property and must pay for a license and adjust property tax exemptions.

No more than three rooms can be rented with a max of two people occupying each room. The bill still needs to pass a full vote of the council in January.
