HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A woman who, prosecutors say, set up a robbery that ended with the fatal shooting of a drug dealer in Windward Oahu two years ago was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday.

Melissa Ordonez, 24, broke down in tears as she apologized to the victim's family. In September, she pleaded guilty to burglary, as well as being an accomplice to robbery and kidnapping.

Prosecutors say Jerrico Lindsey, William Freeman and Reginald Pettway kidnapped Benjamin Grajeda after they went to his Kaneohe home to steal money and drugs. Grajeda managed to get out of the trio's car on Kaneohe Bay Drive, but was gunned down in front of several witnesses.

An autopsy found the 27-year-old suffered 16 gunshot wounds. A jury convicted Lindsey of the murder.

"I apologize to the victim, the victim's family, the courts, to society, to everybody that was affected by this crime," Ordonez said through tears.

Ordonez will serve a mandatory minimum of three years and four months in prison because she is a repeat offender. Her attorney says she has a federal drug conspiracy conviction.

Freeman also received a 10-year prison sentence Monday. He pleaded guilty to kidnapping and hindering prosecution, and testified against Lindsey at the murder trial.
