It's only fitting that UH defeat San Jose State in a down to the wire thriller, considering the headlines going into the game.
First, Dick Tomey would announce his retirement on Monday. So the Spartans wanted nothing more than to help Tomey beat his former team. Second, Hawaii would start it's third quarterback this season. Signal calling duties went to Shane Austin as Bryant Moniz stayed on the sidelines with a rib injury. Third, UH would look back on it's last victory at Spartan Stadium in 2007 and draw from it the will to win once again in overtime.
CALL OF THE WARRIOR
He's quoted as saying I only know one speed, that's full speed. His statement makes his first name ideal for his game. He's Blaze Soares, a fast running and quick talking local boy who started putting in the hard work necessary to be a Warrior when he was in grade school. Blaze was a small kid who even back then played a big game.
