HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii's ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro has been asked to perform for Queen Elizabeth at this years' Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool England. Shimabukuro will accompany Bette Midler at the December 7 charity event. Midler is also from Hawaii.

"I was shocked to hear that Bette Midler knew my music.  I've been a huge fan of hers for many years," said Shimabukuro  "She's like a queen of entertainment.  And to be performing with her for the Queen of England… it's a bit too much for me.  I'm just so honored."

The performance will be Shimabukuro's first trip to the UK. Other performers scheduled to perform at the event include Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.
