HALEIWA, Oahu (HawaiiNewsNow) - We have a winner for the first jewel of the Triple Crown and going into the final of the Reef Hawaiian Pro, only one local boy would be a contender.
But before we look at the finalists, this is worth watching.
Defending Triple Crown champion Joel Parkinson of Australia ... now you see him, now you don't.
He'd hang in that barrel for more than 5 seconds and continue riding his way to a perfect score in round four. But he'd later be eliminated.
As for the guys in the running for this win, former world champ CJ Hobgood made his case, along with Aussie Jay Thompson and Alain Riou of French Polynesia.
But it's a local boy who would out do them all. Joel Centaio of Haleiwa claims his first Reef Hawaiian Pro win to pocket $20,000. He scored 14.76 out of 20 in the final.
