HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With their bowl dreams still in tact, the Warriors football team arrived home Sunday morning following their 3rd straight win against San Jose State at Spartan Stadium.
Shane Austin became the 3rd starting quarterback of Hawaii's season, when he filled in for Bryant Moniz.
Pick things up late in the 4th quarter, game tied and the Spartans driving for the game winner, that is until Tuika Tufaga and Blaze Soares combine for the sack and the forced fumble.
This rivalry would see overtime for the 2nd straight time at Spartans Stadium.
In OT, Leon Wright-Jackson would score the game winning touchdown to beat the Spartans 17-10.
The win for Hawaii is their 5th on the season and means they need to win their final two games to earn a berth to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
"I think it was a good win," Austin said. "It's a good character builder for our team. We kind of hurt ourselves in the middle there but as long as we get the 'W' that's the main goal."
"We gotta play better you know, because we got a very tough opponent coming. But this gives us hope you know, and that's all we need is hope and as long as we have hope, then we have something to fight for," Soares said. "That's what we have now, we have a lot of hope and right now that crack is just starting to open and we just gotta keep on fighting."
