Crane topples over in Kailua Friday; a few homes still without power

KAILUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A handful of residents in the Kailua area remain without power tonight after a crane toppled over, taking out power lines. It happened last night on Auloa Road, leading to the entrance of Luana Hills Golf Club.

Crews are still on the scene trying to remove it.

The crane was being stored when it fell across the road near Castle Medical Center.

Police say it fell on a jeep with two women inside. Neither was injured.

But it also fell on electrical lines knocking out power to 1,300 customers. It has since been restored, except for a few customers. That's because HECO is waiting for the crane to be removed to fix the problem.
