HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Managers at Hawaii's Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument are offering the experience of a lifetime. Twelve teachers and community leaders will win the chance to spend a week on the pristine natural reserve next summer.
They'll be part of an environmental workshop at Midway Atoll, learning about the highly-protected archipelago. The nation's largest single conservation area is home to 7,000 marine species, a quarter of which are found only in Hawaii.
Officials expect applications from all over the world.
