HALEIWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Surfer Sunny Garcia is working on a documentary film and including his run at the Triple Crown, where's he's a proven champion. There was certainly a lot of footage on Garcia for day two of the Reef Hawaiian Pro. It was a good day for local boys in general they took six heats in round three. Flynn Novak and Bruce Irons were among the day's winners, advancing to the round of 64.
Garcia has still got it at age 39. His veteran savvy scored him a 13.5 out of 20 for his two wave score. To date Garcia has won this event five times and has six Triple Crown titles. Turns out even though the former world champ won today, he wished for better.
"It felt pretty good. The waves were in between small and my small wave board. And I would have liked to surf a little better but I'll take what I can get. Today was not that much bigger but I got a little push and it's a little more even for everybody," said Garcia.
