HONOLULU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - General growth, owner of Ala Moana Center and Victoria Ward, may sell some assets to improve its cash position.
Jeff Clabaugh from the Washington Business Journal says Simon Property Group is kicking the tires. Pacific Business News says Simon Property owns Waikele premium outlets.
General growth has enormous debt and is losing hundreds of millions of dollars per quarter, but most of its Hawaii malls, which also include Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo, are actually doing pretty well, and it's by no means certain that a local hui could persuade general growth to sell one of its Hawaii properties.
