The Coach Mack Show: November 15, 2009

It took less than 3 hours for the UH football team to get past New Mexico State. In that time the Warriors unveiled more of what their made of.

Coach Mack called it one of the best performances this season by Hawaii's defense. For the first time since 2005 UH shut out an opponent's offense. It follows a standard set in this series by UH teams of the past. The Warriors have now beat the Aggies in every meeting by double digits improving to 6-0 all time.

Hawaii is now 3 wins away from making the Hawaii Bowl. While a bowl berth has always been the goal, there's a new twist to the Christmas Eve game. It's highly likely that the Conference USA team that will face the WAC team in this year's Hawaii Bowl, could be Southern Methodist University. Former UH head coach June Jones had lead the Mustangs to their first bowl since 1984.

Life on the football field can often provide lessons for players off the field of play, but in the case of Lewis Walker no win or loss could compare to the obstacles he's faced. The freshman defensive back for Hawaii had to make some very hard decisions when he was just 9 years old. Walker chose to leave his parents so another family member could adopt him and give him a better life.
