Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kapiolani Park was rocking this morning for the Walk to Cure Diabetes. It's the 16th straight year the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has staged the event in Hawaii.
Today, close to a thousand people ignored the threat of rain and walked a lap around the park. Their goal was to raise 200-thousand dollars.
People who have juvenile, or type I diabetes, have to monitor their blood sugar levels around the clock and take insulin on a regular basis. Failure to do so can result in all sorts of serious health problems… even death.
