Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - The stormy weather has caused trouble offshore as well. A pair of sailors had to be rescued on Thursday after being stranded, around 500-miles east of Hawaii. The couple is from Washington.
The two were sailing to Oahu when they got caught in the rough water and started to run out of fuel.
They were rescued by the cruise ship "the Golden Princess", which arrived in Honolulu today.
The couple said the decision to leave their boat wasn't easy.
"It's our lively hood and our home. The accommodations are very nice on the cruise ship but after the cruise ship, we're basically jobless and homeless unless we get our boat," said Christopher Miller the stranded fishing boat owner.
The couple's two dogs were also rescued and are currently in quarantine.
