UH Rainbow Warrior basketball vs. Southern Utah

Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball team entered tonight's Rainbow Classic with a little extra chip on their shoulders as they tried to rebound from an 0-2 outing a year ago.

Hawaii came in short handed against Southern Utah. Centers Bill Amis and Douglas Kurtz did not suit up.

Luckily Hawaii's new back court duo did. Dwain Williams came here for his ability to shoot the long ball. He had a pair of treys and finished with 16-points.

Fellow newbie Jeremy Lay also dialed it up from distance.

UH led by five at the break.

Things got close in the second half. Hawaii went 8-minutes without a field goal. So Rod Flemings says "we are in a drought no more." Flemings finished had 23-points and 12-boards.

As Hawaii begins the season at the Rainbow Classic with a 65-48 win over Southern Utah.
