HPD officer receives the department's highest award

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Honolulu police officer who saved a woman from a burning home received the department's highest award today.

At a ceremony this morning at Ala Moana, officer Antonio Bustamante was awarded the "Gold Medal of Valor."

In September, he rushed into a Kailua home engulfed in flames. He found an elderly woman inside and led her to safety.

At today's ceremony, HPD also handed out certificates of merit to officers and a few civilian employees who've made a positive difference this past quarter.
