WEB EXTRA: Big boat in the backyard

NEWPORT BEACH, CA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A big boat in Newport Beach, California has started a brawl.

The owner is trying to restore 1916 ketch, which he rescued from being sunk in the harbor three years ago.

But the 72-foot sailing ship is so big, it spills out of his yard and over the city street.

Neighbors complained until the City Council approved a new law banning large construction in residential areas. The boat falls under this law.

The owner says it would cost him $40,000 to move and store it, and any movement could destroy the already fragile hull.

The city has given him six months to move the massive ship.
