Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Vans Triple Crown is officially underway on the North Shore and while the surf wasn't ideal at two to four feet, there was enough to get thru 15 heats today.
Check it out mother nature did bring the wind.
Derek Ho has won two of the Jewels in the Triple Crown but the Reef Hawaiian Pro escapes him yet again, he's out after the round of 136.
Turns out Granger Larsen of Maui has staying power. Larsen with the longest ride of the day which also posted the highest score of the day at 9.3 out of 10. He'd win his heat and so would fellow local boy Cory Lopez. Both advance to round 3.
