HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Alaska Airlines is adding more flights to Hawaii.
One of those, between San Jose and Kahului, begins March 11.
A flight from San Jose to Kona starts March 12.
Right now, you can fly from Sacramento and Kahului.
Big Island mayor Billy Kenoi says the added flights are critically important.
"Especially in this critical economic time, because it brings capacity to the island of Hawaii," he said. "We're talking 400 new seats a week. We're talking 24,000 seats at the end of the calendar year."
Alaska Airlines has 59 flights a week to Hawaii. That'll go up to 73 weekly flights next Spring.
