HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team is starting to hide equipment because of a number of burglaries.

It's the batting cages behind the field that's taking the big hit.

Gear left there is being stolen and it's a problem that's been ongoing for the past 2 years, but recently got worse.

According to the school paper the Ka Leo, insurance doesn't cover the loses, so Hawaii is left doing without equipment that it needs.

To protect what's left the team is locking up items in a different location.

Head coach Bob Coolen was quoted in an article by the Ka Leo saying "it's just frustrating, it consumes my whole thought process during the weekend. When I'm near the campus, I'll drive through and check out the area."

Coolen further says "I'm just hoping that a solution is drawn up in the near future so I can lessen the anxiety of losing something major and having everything disappear out of there."
