WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Renee Mokihana Nobriga, 25, was crowned the 2010 Miss Hawaii USA on November 9, 2009 at LEVEL4 in the Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki.

Renee lives in Pupukea on the North Shore of Oahu and is the daughter of Kealoha and Iwalani Nobriga. Renee works as a senior sales associate and a model. She graduated from Kahuku High School in 2002 and has an associate's degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in liberal arts. Renee's goal is to become Miss Universe, open her own boutique and earn a degree in communications. Her hobbies include snowboarding, swimming, surfing, drawing and singing.

Contestants competed in a judges interview, swimsuit and evening gown phases. Semi-finalists were given an on-stage question.

Miss Hawaii USA is the official preliminary to the Miss USA pageant. Miss USA then moves on to compete for the highly coveted crown of Miss Universe.

Past Miss Hawaii USA titleholders include actress Kelly Hu and newscasters Trini Kaopuiki and Kuualoha Taylor. In the past, Hawaii has won the Miss USA title four times - Macee Wilson (1962), Tanya Wilson (1972), Judy Anderson (1978) and Brook Lee (1997). Brook Lee also went on to win Miss Universe.

The Miss Hawaii USA pageant is independently produced by executive directors/designers Eric Chandler and Takeo of 2COUTURE. More than $100,000 in scholarships and prizes were awarded.
