Local boy Ernie Cruz Jr. chats about his love and respect for music

HONOLULU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - Introducing our good friend, the talented musician and funny man.

"Hi my name is Ernie Cruz Jr. and I love Awa," said Ernie Cruz Jr.

Ernie jumped into the music scene with the group Ka'au Crater Boys back in the 1990's.

"Yeah, it was fun but I wasn't ready to play music full-time and respect the music," said Cruz.

Ernie recalls playing five nights a week and being consumed by the bar scene.

"I wasn't really taking care of myself again and kind of respecting the music. So I had to take a break," said Cruz.

Ernie's in no rush to get back into the music scene full-time. He's content with getting out to play when he can.

"I can play and just watch how people respond to me and to each other, and it's good. It's good," said Cruz.
