Police search for sexual assault suspects in Kona

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii, (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police in Kona are asking for the public's assistance in a sexual assault case. They say a woman was waiting for a ride on Kuakini Highway just south of Coconut Grove around 1:00 AM Sunday morning when four men attacked her.

Police say  at least one of the men sexually assaulted her in the attack. The victim also suffered multiple injuries to her face and neck.  

Police investigation has determined that one or more persons may have seen part of the encounter without realizing a crime was in progress. Detectives are continuing the investigation.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident to call Detective Gerald Wike of the Juvenile Aid Section at 326-4646, extension 302, or the Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311.
