HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state should not see the strong gusty winds predicted Monday, but instead the northern end of the island chain should expect to see significant rainfall through Tuesday afternoon and evening. Trade winds may reach 20-25 mph on Tuesday but should settle down to a more routine 10-15 mph pace on Wednesday.
Hawaii should still expect a break from hotter temperatures with highs only reaching the lower 80's in most parts of the state Tuesday and Wednesday. Lows Tuesday night will reach the mid 60's.
The weekend is expected to bring a return to the normal trade wind weather pattern with northeast winds 10-15 mph. Occasional windward and mauka showers forecasted for the weekend.
