HONOLULU (HAWAII NEWS NOW) - The holiday spirit was on the minds of many today, as they collected toys for the less fortunate.
The Hawaii State Ballet made a contribution to this year's Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection effort.
The ballet's membership had been collecting toys all week and held a formal presentation of those donations on Saturday.
In this tough economic climate, it's a contribution the organization greatly appreciates.
"It's a good feeling knowing that you're helping someone out here, especially on the islands, someone less fortunate, and giving them something that'll bring them cheer for this holiday," said Corporal Issac Yuen, a U.S. Marine.
"All the classes got really excited when we rusted up some toys to give to Toys for Tots," said Erica Wong of the Hawaii State Ballet.
Last year, Toys for Tots Hawaii collected 40,000 toys.
This year's goal is 45,000.
