Business Report: Car sales patterns

HONOLULU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - More information about the new report from the Hawaii Auto Dealers Association. The sales patterns vary from island to island in fascinating ways.

For example, Toyota carries more than 26 percent market share on each neighbor island, but an amazing 32 percent on the Big Island. Number two Honda is more even, 15 percent or 16 percent market share on each island. Nissan is third, ranging from 11 percent on Maui to 14 percent on Kauai.

Ford has 13 percent on Maui but 7 percent to 9 percent on other islands. Chevrolet and Dodge are both twice as popular on Kauai as on other islands. Lexus and BMW are way more popular on Oahu than the other islands while Mazda is especially popular on the Big Island.
