FDA warns public of bogus H1N1 flu products

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Scam artists are trying to cash in on the H1N1 vaccine shortage. Health officials are warning the public about bogus products being sold online, like air sterilizers, protective shampoos, even fake Tamiflu. They promise to prevent or even cure the virus, but don't have the government's stamp of approval.

"Unless a product is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration, it is not valuable and may be potentially dangerous," says Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services.

A list of fraudulent H1N1 products can be found on the FDA Web site.
