HONOLULU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - A man who took part in a Windward Oahu robbery that left a suspected drug dealer dead pleaded for mercy at his sentencing Monday, saying he misses his family.

A judge sentenced Reginald Pettway, 31, to 10 years in prison for robbery and kidnapping. Two years ago, he and two others grabbed Benjamin Grajeda from his Kaneohe home and shoved him into the trunk of their car.

The victim managed to escape on Kaneohe Bay Drive, but was gunned down by Jerrico Lindsey in front of several witnesses. A jury convicted Lindsey of the murder last week.

Pettway made a deal with prosecutors and testified against Lindsey at the trial. The Hawaii parole board will decide how much of the 10-year term Pettway must serve before he's eligible for parole.
