Sailor killed in Oahu motorcycle crash identified

PEARL HARBOR (KHNL) - Officials have identified a sailor who was killed Sunday in a motorcycle accident on Oahu's north shore. 29-year-old Hospital Corpsman Third Class Nigel Kennedy died when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a car on Kaukonahua Road.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Kennedy was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Police said speed, alcohol, and drugs were not involved.

Kennedy, from New York City, enlisted in the Navy in 2006. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, the National Service Defense Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 1 star and the Eagle Globe and Anchor, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 star, the Over Seas Service Ribbon, the Marksman Rifle Ribbon, and the Sharpshooter Pistol Ribbon.
