WAIKIKI (KHNL) - Relief and gratitude comes from a woman whose wallet was stolen from her baby's stroller in Waikiki last weekend. We aired her story Thursday, and the wallet was returned Friday.

Surveillance video shows the suspected thief in the act at Smokey's tobacco shop in Waikiki. Well, he saw himself on our newscast and had a friend return the wallet to the store. New mom Emily Gomes is grateful it was returned intact.

"It's such a relief not to have my wallet replaced and have to go through the hassle of new IDs, social security cards, insurance cards, a bunch of other membership cards, all cost money to be replaced," she said. "It's such a huge pain and I never thought it would come back even after you guys did the story, so that's pretty awesome."

Gomes says she was impressed that the suspect would return the wallet. He was apparently "strung out" on drugs when he stole it, according to the friend who returned it. No word yet on if he will face criminal charges.
