What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?

A lot of things make us different. First, we complete a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, joints and other tissue in your mouth when you first visit us. We even create a digital photo album of your mouth using our digital x-ray and intra oral camera. That way, we can see everything going on in your mouth and show you what is happening as well. From there, we create a customized dental treatment plan that is designed around your life. In this plan, we consider a number of factors, such as the stability of your bite and the structure of your jaw. Finally, we treat you with high quality cosmetic and restorative services in a state-of-the-art facility that includes the latest equipment and is manned by a highly-trained and exceptionally gifted staff. To truly know what makes us different, however, we suggest that you stop in and see us. Or you can schedule an appointment by calling us at 808-944-1155.

I really do not like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

It is said that there is nothing to fear except fear itself. We think that is the problem with a lot of dentists - they do not tell you what is going on in your mouth and make their treatments seem mysterious. When you do not know why a problem is occurring or why a treatment is being suggested, dentistry can seem a little scary. Dr. Yoshimura takes the time to do an exhaustive examination of your mouth. With this exam, he can show you where problems are occurring and offer you options on what you can do about it. He can also use Caesy, the patient education system in our office, to explain why the procedures he suggests are the best for you. When you have the knowledge, you can work with Dr. Yoshimura to design a healthy and beautiful smile and maintain it throughout your lifetime.

Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials.where can I learn more about these procedures?

When Dr. Yoshimura recommends these services, it is usually as part of a permanent restoration. All of these products are comfortable in your mouth, long-lasting and look completely natural. You can learn about some of these procedures on our Patient Education page. You can also use Caesy, the patient education system in our office, to print information on a particular procedure. If you are curious about any treatment we recommend, we welcome your questions. Dr. Yoshimura strives to keep up on the latest research and can explain why these procedures might be best for you.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend?

We offer several cosmetic services to improve the appearance of your front teeth. Dr. Yoshimura is certified in Invisalign®. With this product, we place a customized retainer in your mouth. As you wear it over a period of a few weeks, your teeth will be moved into the desired position. Dr. Yoshimura may also recommend veneers, crowns or bonding to correct smaller problems with your front teeth. If you would like to enhance the appearance of your smile, call us so we can schedule a consultation with Dr. Yoshimura. After listening to your goals and concerns, he can suggest ways to help you straighten your smile.

What is Smile Analysis?

Using a facially generated approach, we look at proportions and symmetry of the face, lips, gums and teeth. Photography is used for diagnosis and communication with our patients, specialists and master ceramist in designing and achieving our desired goals.

What is Smile Design?

Dr. Yoshimura can use his digital imaging system to create images of your new smile. He can also have his lab assistant create wax-ups of your new smile. From there, we can see what your new smile will look like and even let you test drive your teeth. We can then review the smile design results with you and discuss the next steps to make it happen.

What are dental implants and how are they used?

Dental implants are small titanium fixtures that replace the roots of missing teeth. They're carefully placed into the jaw bone by highly skilled surgeons and act as posts to support individual crowns or bridges designed and fabricated by the restorative dentist. Implants can also help to stabilize loose partials and full dentures. The key to having implants is adequate quality and quantity of bone. Once a tooth is lost, bone begins to melt away, so time and pre-planning are important.

What should I do if I grind my teeth?

Most commonly a hard plastic bite guard or splint can be made to fit over the surfaces of your teeth to slow down further wear. However, severe tooth wear can lead to poorer digestion and a loss of vertical dimension to one's face, resulting in a more aged appearance. It is therefore recommended to have a comprehensive evaluation to assess the need to restore proper function and form.
