HONOLULU (KHNL) - A Waipahu man accused of stabbing his wife while she slept pleaded not guilty at his Circuit Court arraignment Thursday.

Herminio Sol, 64, is charged with attempted murder.

At a preliminary hearing two weeks ago, Mary Grace Sol testified that her husband didn't say a word after he plunged a knife into her. She says he attacked her while she was sleeping with their children in their Puloku Street home September 5th.

Family members say the defendant may have been overwhelmed by his recent cancer surgery.

Trial is tentatively set for November 23rd.
