HONOLULU (KHNL) - An Oahu grand jury on Tuesday determined there's enough evidence to send a University of Hawaii professor, who's accused of molesting a child, to trial.

The panel indicted David Stegenga, 63, on seven counts of first-degree sex assault and five counts of third-degree sex assault.

A 17-year-old girl told investigators the UH Manoa math professor sexually assaulted her for six years, beginning when she was seven years old. Court documents say the alleged victim is a family friend.

Stegenga is free after posting $500,000 bail.
