Yamazawa, Collie win Maui Marathon

MAUI (KHNL) - Youko Yamazawa of Japan, defended her Maui Marathon title by repeating as champion.

Yamazawa finished first in a time of 3 hours, 14 minutes and 7 seconds, more than 15 minutes ahead of the second place finisher. But it was almost five minutes slower than her 2008 finish.

On the men's side, Marc Collie of Canada crossed the finish line first in a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes and 15 seconds, more than 21 minutes faster than Ken Hall of Colleyville, Texas, who placed second in 2 hours, 52 minutes and 43 seconds.

The scenice course started in Kahului, ran along the Maui coast and through historic Lahaina, before finishing in front of Whalers Village in the Ka'anapali Beach Resort.
