Head-on Collision Kills Three Big Island Family Members.

BIG ISLAND (KHNL)  A five-year-old boy was among three people killed in a head-on collision on the Big Island overnight.

It happened just before midnight, on Highway 19, near Mana Road.

Police say a station wagon, driven by a 32-year-old man from Waimea, crossed the center line and slammed into an SUV, driven by an unidentified Keaau man.

The car's driver, 30-year-old Suzanne Ng, and their 5-year old son, Aidon, died at the hospital.

Their 8-year-old daughter, and the man driving the SUV, were flown to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

Police suspect at least one of the drivers was drinking and speeding, and have opened a negligent homicide investigation.
