Brush fire threatening Molokai

MOLOKAI (KHNL) - On the Friendly Isle, firefighters are battling a stubborn brush fire in Kaunakakai.

It was reported just after noon Saturday.

So far the fire has burned about 2,500 acres.

Three helicopters and a number of firefighters are helping put the fire out, which is burning on the mauka side of the island.

Crews from Maui have also been dispatched to Molokai.

At this time, no homes are in jeopardy and no injuries have been reported, but a firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
