WAIANAE (KHNL) - A man is dead following a crash Wednesday night in west Oahu. Honolulu police believe drinking and speeding contributed to this crash.
It happened shortly before 8:30 PM, in Waianae. A pickup truck was traveling on Lualualei Homestead Road, when it attempted to pass a vehicle in front of it. That's when the driver lost control, hitting a light pole and a stone wall.
Paramedics took the 58-year-old man to the Waianae Comprehensive Center in critical condition, where he died. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
This is the 40th fatality this year on Oahu, compared to 32 at the same time last year.
