"He rocks," said Penn fan Jericho Deleon.
"He's a great fighter," said Penn fan Keola Isnec.
"His good punches, his kicks, I like the way he fights," said Deleon.
"There's a lot of people from Hawaii that fight and train, but he really made it to the big show," said Penn fan Kele Olanolan.
Despite international spotlight, the lightweight champ is a simple guy.
"How's it going?" said UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn.
"The Prodigy" Penn is greeted by admiring fans, fresh off his victory over Kenny Florian earlier this month.
"After a grueling training camp, you just hope everything goes in a positive direction and I'm glad everything went well," said Penn.
He's on Oahu to promote his new dvd. It takes fans through Penn's mental and physical preparation 90-days leading up to his fight versus Georges St. Pierre in January. But before that, he squared off with our own sparring Stephanie Lum. And Penn is going to need a training partner for an upcoming lightweight bout in November with Diego Sanchez.
"I'm ready for the rematch, has she been training?" said Penn.
"She's been eating a lot of candy," said KHNL and K-5's Zahid Arab.
"Where is she?" said Penn.
It was lights out for Penn's last opponent with a choke submission.
"Put my elbow in front of his chin. Tap out its over," said Penn.
BJ Penn has another six autograph appearances on Oahu the next few days.
