MANOA (KHNL) - Last year the University of Hawaii football team allowed over four sacks a game, ranking them dead last out of the 119 division one schools.
However, this year four players with starting experience return to the offensive line, plus add on highly regarded O-line coach Gordy Shaw, and things are looking brighter, just ask the head coach, and the guys who line up opposite them everyday.
"I think Gordy Shaw is doing a great job, Jon Estes is a great leader. We gotta pretty good group playing together and we've got some guys to back them up," said UH head coach Greg McMackin.
"I mean you can't even measure how far they've came, their offensive line coach is awesome, they give us a good look every single day, and compared to what they were last year, they're so much better. And you can just see how they move together, when they step they step together, when they move, they move together," said defensive tackle Rocky Savaiigaea.
Coach Mack also says he's going to finalize his depth chart by the end of this weekend.
