HONOLULU (KHNL) - It's that time of the year again, time to help Hawaii's law enforcement officers raise money for Special Olympics.

Deputy Sheriff Ikaika Dupont is among those participating in the 19th annual Tip-a-Cop event. Sheriffs, police, military officers and others will be waiting tables and asking for donations at eight restaurants at the various Ward centers, from 6 pm to 9 pm, Thursday and Friday.

All the money raised will remain in Hawaii to benefit Special Olympics athletes across the state.

"It feels good," Chris Lee, deputy sheriff, said. "It's one way of giving back to the community. So we can help out, especially with these kids. It's a worthy cause."

This reporter, a Special Olympics softball and basketball coach, will be serving customers as well. She'll be a guest waiter at Buca Di Beppo Friday night.
