HONOLULU (KHNL) - Prosecutors on Wednesday obtained a seven-count grand jury indictment against an Oahu man suspected of using violence to coerce women into prostitution.
Charles Cocklin, 28, is accused of forcing a woman to work as a prostitute in Waikiki. Investigators say he beat her and broke her jaw.
A second woman told police Cocklin also tried to recruit her and threatened her on numerous occasions.
"The suspect repeatedly called and text messaged victim number two that he would cut her up, kill her, blow up her car and kidnap her," Vickie Kapp, deputy prosecutor, said. "Obviously, the suspect poses an extreme danger to both of these victims."
