HONOLULU (KHNL) - A man accused of gunning down an Ewa man in the Ala Moana area last week made his initial court appearance in the case Monday.
More than half a dozen sheriffs were called in to provide security during the hearing.
Phillip Deleon, 33, is charged with murder, attempted murder, reckless endangering and firearms offenses. He's suspected of fatally shooting Sean Powell, 35, outside a bar at Keeaumoku Plaza early Friday morning.
Witnesses say Deleon fired several rounds during the fight, including one towards a witness who was running away.
Police say they nabbed the suspect at the Honolulu International Airport that night, as he tried to board a flight to the mainland.
