Hawaii Post Offices May Close

HONOLULU (KHNL) - The federal governemnt may close several post offices in our state.  This comes as officials say the postal service is struggling to stay afloat.  They say less people mail and turn to e-mail and on-line payment systems, instead.  To help cut costs, the federal governement may shut down 677 post offices nationwide.

Ten of those post offices are located on Oahu.  They include Aina Haina, Kaimuki, Kapalama, Makiki, Moiliili, Waialae-Kahala and post offices at Tripler Army Medical Center and Fort Shafter.

Two small postal service money order offices may also be cut.
