HONOLULU (KHNL) - After a day-and-a-half of deliberations, a Circuit Court jury on Friday found a Kalihi man guilty of murdering his wife.

During the trial, Melchor Adviento testified he killed his wife in self-defense. Jurors didn't buy it.

Prosecutors say he stabbed Erlinda Adviento, 44, 16 times because he thought she was cheating on him and was going to divorce him.

It happened in their Kahaha Street home on October 28, 2007, while their 11-year-old son was playing in a unit upstairs.

Adviento faces life in prison with the possibility of parole when he's sentenced October 21st.
