Progress at Hawaii's public schools a mixed bag

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Thursday, the state Department of Education released the 2009 Hawaii State Assessment.

The assessment is used to determine a school's status, under the No Child Left Behind Act.

The results show that 97 Hawaii public schools, met their adequate yearly progress, while 187 did not.

On a positive note, the tests do show a rise in students' reading and math scores.
