Suspicious device closes Iolani Palace

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A suspicious device spotted on the grounds of the Iolani Palace prompted it's closing Friday morning. The device, about the size of a shoebox with  what appeared to be an electrical attachment, was spotted about 8:30 AM Friday morning between the Band shell and King street.

The bomb disposal unit arrived on scene and after about two hours removed the device from the grounds. Several streets in the immediate area were closed while they investigated.

All streets have reopened.
