HONOLULU (KHNL) - Big Island triathlete Jason Lester isn't your typical athlete.

For one, he competes in Ironman and Ultraman triathlons, but he also does it with only one good arm.

On Halloween night, 1987, a car ran a red light crashing into Lester, leaving his arm paralyzed.

However, he's never let his disability hold him back, and he looks at it as another challenge for him to overcome.

Now, for his courage and inspiration, Lester is being nominated for an ESPY award in the "Best Male Athlete with a Disability" category.

"I'm not focusing so much on winning the ESPY, just being nominated is a huge honor, so to me I've already won. If I am selected to win the ESPY I just want to use it to inspire other people that no matter what you've been through if you keep persevering and push through and never stop, anything is possible," said Lester.

ESPY awards are decided by you the fan. Voting concludes on July 10th. The ESPY's air on July 19th.
