KANEOHE (KHNL) - Doing her best to hide from our news camera, a Makaha woman accused of beating a peacock to death went before an Oahu judge Monday.

Sandra Maloney kept her large hat and dark glasses on during her arraignment. She pleaded not guilty to second-degree animal cruelty.

Residents at Makaha Valley Towers say Maloney attacked a peacock with a baseball bat because she was fed up with its loud cries.

Her trial is scheduled for next month.
