HONOLULU (KHNL) - After losing in the semis to eventual champ, Alex Ching last year, T.J. Kua made this year pay off, as he defeats Layne Morita to capture the 101st Manoa Cup. Kua, a sophomore on the UH golf team, never trailed in the 36-hole championship match. In fact, Kua led by 3-holes after 18 and was 4-up after 25-holes. But, Layne Morita, who has played some amazing golf this week at the Oahu Country Club, came back to cut the deficit to just one, after sinking his par putt on 16. So they went to the 18th green, with Kua up by 1, and Morita staring down a 8-foot putt to send this championship final into overtime. But, it wasn't meant to be, as Kua wins the 101st Manoa Cup, 1-up over Layne Morita, a senior golfer at Chaminade University. Kua's uncle, Hawaii Golf Hall of Famer, David Ishii, won the Manoa Cup in 1977.
